Super fun couple of days spent sourcing product/getting inspiration for a couple of new projects both online and at #denverdesigndistrict. In terms of ‘not playing it safe’ options, this large format graphic hex is one of my favorites! I can imagine it paired with rustic wood elements on a foyer, 1/2 bath or laundry room floor.

The client/owner was a joy to collaborate with and brought many of the design elements to life with her own two hands like the painted wall stripes and wood accent wall at the entry. Renovations can be challenging and usually have at least a couple of surprises when demo starts. However they are sooooo satisfying. So many of my clients are fitness related...tough times for these businesses and my heart goes out to them. I’m personally missing the indoor cycling workouts at my local gym but thankfully the weather in my mountain town is cooperating this week for outdoor gravel rides!! This photo is from a club renovation project I completed last fall. We brought the outside in and added color with a wall graphic of the local landscape shot by a local photographer. Add a great instructor/music and it’s a room I’d happily complete my winter training in! 🚲 🎶

I snapped this shot on my phone right after the installers set the last piece. It’s on the more traditional end of my range but I love how the living room is polished and refined but still super cozy. Several nods to Steamboat’s western heritage (cowhide!) mixed with natural elements like live edge wood and slate lamps keep the space grounded. Swooning over this master bath palette....steely blue textural tile paired with warm grays, a perfect shade of wood and crisp black. These colors are being carried out into the master bedroom and open concept living area on the main floor. We are adding nubby fabrics, clean lined furniture and sculptural lighting for a cozy but modern mountain feel.

The complexities of a commercial wall finish plan.... and why my neck currently aches. 😂 There are lots of different wall finishes, flooring and different kinds of base. I’ve been hunched over the table for a couple of hours thinking about where those things terminate and/or intersect. Designer tip for residential or commercial... ALWAYS transition paint colors at inside corners. A palette for a super fun residential project I’m working on now. It’s more on the traditional side of my range and I’m loving the soft glassy greens and blues with the pop of red. So much so I apparently unconsciously had my toes painted to match. 😜 oh and did I mention the plaid fabric? That’s for the draperies.... such a fun take on a traditional pattern!
