Swooning over this master bath palette....steely blue textural tile paired with warm grays, a perfect shade of wood and crisp black. These colors are being carried out into the master bedroom and open concept living area on the main floor. We are adding nubby fabrics, clean lined furniture and sculptural lighting for a cozy but modern mountain feel.

The complexities of a commercial wall finish plan.... and why my neck currently aches. 😂 There are lots of different wall finishes, flooring and different kinds of base. I’ve been hunched over the table for a couple of hours thinking about where those things terminate and/or intersect. Designer tip for residential or commercial... ALWAYS transition paint colors at inside corners. A palette for a super fun residential project I’

A palette for a super fun residential project I’m working on now. It’s more on the traditional side of my range and I’m loving the soft glassy greens and blues with the pop of red. So much so I apparently unconsciously had my toes painted to match. 😜 oh and did I mention the plaid fabric? That’s for the draperies.... such a fun take on a traditional pattern!

Ok guys, time to look the other direction on this

Ok guys, time to look the other direction on this project! Can you believe there were walls where this picture was taken from and the dining table was basically where the island is?!? The kitchen had been confined to the corner and was tiny but we took out walls and expanded into the living space. Honestly you’d be surprised how much better flow you can get in a layout without having to add more square footage most of the time. •

Feeling super blessed based on how I have been abl

Feeling super blessed based on how I have been able to spend the last few days. I started by riding the Kokopelli Trail (just shy of 150 miles over 3 days) with a group of seriously rad ladies. Then my family met me in Moab, spoiling me with dinner and presents. We ended the trip with a hike before heading out of town. Gorgeous scenery and the kiddo and I now have matching shorts. With 🦙🦙🦙on them no less! Some people dread Monday but as this amazing long weekend comes to a close, I’m psyched to get back to my projects tomorrow morning because I straight up love my job. 🧡 .

Finally posting one of the professional photos of this project... chose this view because I could never get it right on my phone camera. Those dining lights always blew out.... Gotta love a photographer who knows how to bracket. 😉 There were walls where the island is so the kitchen was tiny, cramped, and cave like in that corner. In order to take them out, we had to put a new structural beam up in the attic above the ceiling. We didn’t move any exterior walls or get more actual square footage, yet the space now feels so much bigger! I’ve got a blog post in the works where I’ll show the before pictures. Oh me oh my, it’s been a craaaaaaazy first quart

Oh me oh my, it’s been a craaaaaaazy first quarter! Lots of projects on the boards and my weekends have been consumed with ski racing/travel for the kiddo. Things are calming down a bit on that front but they are heating up on this project! Demo has begun and I’m super excited about transforming the fireplace. (Swipe to see existing conditions.) “You can’t go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending.” I love a lot of C.S. Lewis quotes but this one seems very appropriate given the start of a new year. I’m not one for resolutions but I do engage in personal and professional planning every December for the following year. I also had a milestone birthday last month so I’m feeling even more introspective than normal as I think about how I’ll write my story over the next 12 months.

When it comes to home decor do you ever DIY anything?
I personally love working with my hands but don’t get much opportunity to make things with all the other demands of life. I keep thinking when I’m retired I’d like to work with wood! But this was an easy project and didn’t take too long to complete. It started with a piece of salvaged barn wood I found on a trip back to Michigan. Then I drilled some holes and added a handful of carefully curated knobs. Instant art piece and functional too as a necklace holder!

This project is finished! I’ve shared a few pics of this fireplace during the construction process and the end result is nothing short of lovely. My favorite part about this space though is how much it represents my clients. The dust has settled and their accessories are out and art has been hung....Things that have been collected over years of travel all over the world. It’s an interesting tapestry woven by them with some help from me. Now I’m envisioning them by that cozy fire with family over the holidays. 😍 (Professional pics scheduled for the new year...stay tuned because the kitchen is gorgeous too!) #renovation
